Holidays can be a time when youth are exposed to more risky situations and make decisions that may seriously impact their physical and mental health. Celebration with friends and family, travel, isolation, and increased access and exposure to alcohol, marijuana, and other drugs all contribute to the need for parents to be on high alert. This parent presentation will provide information on the most current drug trends, how to address risk factors during the holidays with your teens, and available resources in the community.
Speakers are: Student Assistance counselors Angela Alvarado, LCSW, Fox Lane High School, Samantha Wagner, MHC-LP, John Jay High School, and Annmarie Feddeck, LMSW, Fox Lane Middle School. Student Assistance Counselors work with students to prevent substance use, problem gambling, and bullying, and promote mental health by raising awareness and providing support and skills for healthy behaviors.
